Just got home from day 1 of the Greater Edmonton Teachers’ Convention. Two days of learning, fellowship and personal growth every year at the end of February. I hope to say a few things over the next few days before returning to yesterday’s post and completing my thought on the challenge of evaluating resources.
I had a very good day. One big highlight was hearing spoken word poet Shane Koyczan. In spite of battling a cold, Shane was bright, funny, very thought-provoking and–as all good convention keynotes should be–he left everybody excited and eager to get teaching.
I’ll have to reflect further on some of Shane’s bigger messages, but for now, I’d like you to check out this illustrated presentation of his poem “Troll”. If you have a strong stomach, you can go to Youtube and read the comments below the poem. Not for everyone.
